Free Wheelchair Mission, a faith-based humanitarian organization, is thrilled to announce the launch of the GEN 4 JOY wheelchair, marking their first new model in over a decade! This innovative wheelchair comes packed with significant improvements in comfort, posture support, and durability, ensuring that users enjoy a better experience.
One of the standout features of GEN 4 JOY is its expanded size range, which now includes options from XS to XXL. This allows them to serve a broader range of users, accommodating individual needs more effectively. Moreover, the new design is expected to last nearly twice as long as the previous GEN 2 and GEN 3 models—a crucial enhancement for communities where repairs or replacements can be a challenge.
In collaboration with Invacare Corporation, Free Wheelchair Mission has benefited from a six-year partnership that has provided pro-bono expertise, guidance, and testing throughout the design and development phases of GEN 4 JOY.
Mark your calendars for the debut of this groundbreaking wheelchair at their Miracle of Mobility events! They will kick things off in Orange County on September 4, 2025, at the Segerstrom Center for the Arts, hosted by Candace Cameron Bure. Following that, a virtual event will take place on September 21, also hosted by Candace and features a special performance by GRAMMY Award-winning duo for KING + COUNTRY.
Distribution of GEN 4 JOY is set to begin in early 2026, with transitions across all partner networks over the next three years. We can’t wait to share this exciting new wheelchair with the world! Stay tuned for more updates.
