Ex-LGBTQ Leaders Return to Capitol Steps to Opposed a Government Mandated Sexual Identity

CHANGED Movement in partnership with California Family Council plan to hold a press conference at the State Capitol tomorrow, June 12, with former LGBTQ-identified leaders and others to commemorate a legislative victory against a 2018 bill, AB 2943, that would have outlawed change counseling. They also plan to advocate against government policies that compel those questioning their sexuality and gender identity to adopt an LGBTQ identity, even if it doesn’t align with their conscience. The counseling bans issue is currently before the US Supreme Court in Chiles v. Salazar. The Changed movement and CFC are hopeful the case will be decided in their favor making California’s remaining ban on so-called “Conversion Therapy” for minors unconstitional.

California’s counseling bans have left young people with gender confusion without options, often steering gender-dysphoric boys to wrongly believe they are girls. As a result, more males are now competing in female sports—robbing girls of scholarships, championships, and equal opportunities, and accelerating the collapse of fair competition for real women.

Wednesday, June 12 date marks the seven-year anniversary of an event on the Capitol steps when over 40 formerly identified LGBTQ men and women told their stories of transformation to a crowd of hundreds of concerned citizens. Attendees then flooded a hearing for AB 2943 to urge legislators to protect their right to seek support and encouragement to follow their faith when it involves letting go of LGBTQ identities. AB 2943 was a bill authored by former Assemblyman Evan Low to treat “efforts to change behaviors or gender expressions, or to eliminate or reduce sexual or romantic attractions or feelings toward individuals of the same sex,” as consumer fraud.

This bill, which was pulled at the last minute on the last day of the legislative session, would have made pastors, youth leaders and lay counselors, as well as professional licensed counselors, criminals for helping those seeking support and encouragement to follow their faith when it involves letting go of LGBTQ identities and behaviors.
